Flashback of Fall Goodness

This post is simply a flashback of some special fall moments... ((a good way to get to know me!))  All of these photos are from the fall of 2009, 2010 and 2011. Enjoy friends!

Fall at the farm is pretty spectacular.  I have always had a place in my heart for images of trees and leaves (seriously makes me giddy sometimes), so I make a mad dash for the camera anytime this type of GOODNESS appears.

There was a big rain so the pond was muddy -

I REALLY love seeing leaves covering the driveway...

My niece Kennedy found the most beautiful leaf I have ever seen in my life right under one of those trees surrounding the pond.  I photographed it for days!  I have made stationary and notebooks using photos of this leaf because I adore it so much!  Isn't it just PERFECTION?!

This photo is from Rooney's first fall season.  Taking him to the apple orchard was so special to us!

Ahh, then my Rooney turned ONE and that meant a trip to the pumpkin patch, dressing up as a pirate (he loved....well, still loves pirates!) and lots of playing outside, enjoying the cool air!

Then, just when I thought I couldn't possibly love the fall season any more.... this happened -

Rooney became a brother when we were blessed with the addition of Julianne Caroline in October of 2011!

My lifetime love and I begin fall 2012 with a recently turned three-year-old who loves hammering, taking photos, eating anything with cheese and talking (and talking, and talking, and talking), in addition to a very soon to be one-year-old who is so close to walking by herself, adores her brother & Papaw, loves music class, and shows the redheaded side rarely (thankfully!)  I am so excited to see the beauty that this fall season will bring!

Happy Fall!

So it may not "officially" be fall at your house... but it is at mine!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fall and winter seasons, so at the mere hint of a cool night or sight of a pumpkin I start the celebration!  ((Fortunately my lifetime love and I fully agree on this!))

The first of the pumpkins have been purchased and displayed, and now that the latest Country Living Magazine has arrived I am ready to gather my friends and have a pumpkin painting party!  A glimpse of those chevron pumpkins on the cover and I was ready to paint!  ~  If by chance you do not get this magazine in your mailbox monthly I suggest you RUN, not walk, but RUN to buy it!

I started the fall celebration at home by making this fall wreath...

Pinterest inspired, you could say.  I did not follow any tutorial, but I do get inspiration there (yeah, daily...) and I hope this will now serve as inspiration for you! All of the flowers are handmade from fabric scraps and the "J" was thrifted for a $1 then painted.  I chose to velcro the initial on so that I can pull it off and use it for other wreaths & decor in seasons to come.

Next, I added a touch of fall here and there... especially in my happy place - the Butler's Pantry.  Subtle was all it needed.

I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to make bunting - this was it!

Yes, ideally you have a mantle minus a television ~ well, I don't have that scenario ;)  This farmhouse has very, very, very little wall space (30+ large windows), so I did what I could.  While there are lots of FUN and more technological ways to make bunting (say using a Silhouette Cameo for example), I chose to do this truly handmade - stencils, paint, burlap, & grosgrain ribbon, with a little help from my trusty glue gun.  It was super easy, super fast, and I am pleased with the results!

I also purchased "stone stamps" (alphabet & numbers) and used them to stamp words onto book pages using the same paint.  I grabbed the stone stamps because they were both inexpensive and perfect in size.  They worked PERFECT!  I am really looking forward to crafting more with these!  ((I purchased them in the craft department at Walmart for around $5))

Thanks for stopping by!  Much more GOODNESS to come and HAPPY FALL FRIENDS!

MugSwap hosted by A Cuppa Kim - 2012

Chances are you have heard me make mention multiple times now of my L.O.V.E. for Instagram.  I will save my sermon on how great Instagram is for networking with other Moms and Bloggers, and Mommy Bloggers, (and foodies, and crafters, and DIY'ers and vintage lovers, etc.) and instead go straight to the details of the MugSwap!  It was in fact Instagram where I first learned about the MugSwap!  Seemed simple enough....e-mail my contact info to Kim (you can view her blog here: www.acuppakim.com ) and wait for her to e-mail back with an assigned individual to select a mug for, then ship it direct to the recipient.

I was eager to learn as much as possible about my assigned recipient so that I could select a mug that she would adore.  I was thrilled to see that she is a homeschooling Mom... her blog had pictures of her home and I was more than excited to see she loved thrifting and all things vintage like myself!  Off to the store I went!  Ok, so one trip did not yield the perfect mug, but after a little more searching I found what felt "right".

Honestly, I can't get that pretty little mug out of my mind...I hope she loves it like I do!  And the BEST part?  Oh yeah, that AMAZING little bird inside the mug!

Of course the mug couldn't be shipped out without some other goodies, so I included some handmade bookmarks.  I boxed all the goodies, wrote a ship to that had California in the address (yippie, a friend in California now?  I know NO ONE there!)  (You can view my mug recipient's blog here:  www.thechildspaper.com)  All that was left to do was wait on MY mug to arrive!!!

There was A LOT of waiting, and based on how the box looked, I am thinking it must have been smack in the midst of Hurricane Isaac!!  My lifetime love panicked, he feared the mug was broken and knew my heart would be too!  Thankfully, all the goodness inside was safe!

Vanessa from www.purejoyandadoration.com sent me these GREAT goodies... she hit the nail on the head friends!  I heart thrifting (she noted the mug was thrifted), I heart milkglass, and I heart Texas!  Now I already have several special friends who live in the great state of Texas, but now I have a new one who I will think about everytime I see this fun reminder!  Vanessa and myself share so many common interests I just don't even know where to begin!

HUGE thanks to Kim at www.acuppakim.com - MugSwap 2012 was such great fun, I'm looking forward to next year!
